Tropical avocados are a large, pear-shaped fruit with skin that remains green even when ripe. Because of this characteristic they are also known as green-skin avocados.
Sour oranges are small to medium in size, averaging 7-8 centimeters in diameter, and are round to oval in shape. Underneath the skin, the pale orange flesh is firm. With maturity, the center of the flesh may also become hollow.
A coconut is a large, nut-like fruit that grows high in trees. Coconuts have very hard shells and sweet, white flesh inside. Coconuts are large brown balls that must be cut or sawed open — inside the shell is the coconut meat, and the sweet and clear coconut water.
Meet the aji dulce, also known as ajicito or aji cachucha. This habanero look-alike packs a sweet and smoky taste with very little (if any) perceptible heat. It's perfect for mild salsas, sauces, and a must for Caribbean cooking, especially Cuban and Venezuelan cuisine.
Yautia root has an elongated, tapered shape with one large bulbous end. The White Yautia root’s tough brown to orange skin has a rough and uneven texture covered with many bumps and hair. The flesh of this corm is white or light yellow and has a crisp and smooth texture.
Quenepa is a small, round fruit with a smooth, green skin that turns slightly yellowish when ripe. The outer shell is thin but firm, enclosing a translucent, juicy pulp that clings tightly to a large, central seed. The flesh is soft, gelatinous, and slightly tangy, with a subtle sweetness and a refreshing, citrus-like flavor.
Mango Mingolo is a small, elongated variety of mango with a thin green skin that may show yellow hues as it ripens. The peel is smooth and easy to remove, revealing an orange, juicy, and fibrous flesh. Its flavor is intensely sweet, with pronounced tropical notes and a slight acidity that balances the profile. It contains a long seed that takes up much of the interior.
Hot peppers are typically small to medium-sized, with a conical or elongated shape and smooth, glossy skin that ranges in color from green to red, yellow, or orange, depending on the variety and ripeness. The flesh is thin and crisp, enclosing a central cavity filled with seeds. Known for their intense heat, hot peppers have a sharp, pungent flavor that varies in spiciness, from mild to extremely hot.
Sweet lemons are round or slightly oval fruits with a thin, smooth skin that turns pale yellow or greenish when ripe. Unlike regular lemons, their pulp is juicy and noticeably sweet, with very low acidity. They contain few seeds and have a fresh, delicate aroma, making them ideal for eating fresh or juicing.
